200 metres away from the Osprey Pub in a new development (Greenlaw Village) which also sports a Waitrose, Premier Inn etc however it shouldn’t be confused with “Zaika” in Stewarton Ayrshire which is reviewed elsewhere on this site.
A stylish purpose built restaurant & grill in the heart of the Mearns adds a much needed option to an area that struggles for choice. There is, apart from the bar, two restaurants an Indian and European both well appointed and the menus would suggest its well thought out and designed to attract a discerning palate together with casual diners.
It may come as no surprise that I just couldn’t subdue the curry monster in me long enough to consider the European menu however perhaps next time around.
Special mention for the tandoori lamb chops (if you’re the veg pakora type as industry standard do yourself a favour and give the chops a whirl) as for the main dishes…………what we had was good but everything coming out the kitchen looked good and comments around us were very favourable! Not a massive menu which I always find encouraging and lots of things I would like to go back and try.
Bit shaky on the bar service with wrong drinks served but it’s a young team and they will get there.
It’s a fabulous location for a restaurant especially if your coming out from the city, otherwise proceed North on the M77 to the Darnley cut off and rejoin the M77 heading South and take the next turn off and your there!
Scores a 7 but needs to work hard to put all the building blocks in place to be a star turn!
